Michael Barrett is an avid outdoor enthusiast and helicopter pilot who brings a lifetime of leadership and wilderness experience to his role as the owner/operator of Outlaw Contractors.
Originally from Australia, he spent 22 years as a member of the Victoria Police Force primarily as an investigator and manager, while also serving as a Marine Rescue Operative and trainer. During this time he was also a part-time commercial helicopter pilot with Melbourne Helicopters focusing on aerial photography, scenic flights, and commercial charters.
A member of the Australian Ski Patrol with Advanced Medical Care Level 2 certification, Michael is an avid skier familiar with ski resorts worldwide. He travelled extensively throughout the Canadian Rockies and fell in love with the wilderness. He moved to Alberta and furthered his love and qualifications in the ski arena where he has worked for the last 7 years as an Operations Supervisor with Fortress Mountain Resort.
Since arriving in Alberta, Michael has been able to gain extensive experience and qualifications with cat operations and maintenance, avalanche control and ski patrol operations. He is a member of the Canmore Fire Rescue where he has continued to build his skill set over the past 3 years. It is through the combination of all these experiences that he identified and, more importantly, saw a real need for outdoor maintenance that addressed the challenges of the area and terrain, and was able to put to use his skills and leadership in a way that hadn’t been envisioned before.
By cultivating a community of like-minded and skilled individuals, Outlaw Contractors was born.
