THE CANADIAN ROCKIES

The Canadian Rockies are world-renowned for their excellent ski slopes and terrain, and we are proud to work with a number of ski resorts in the heart of the region, year-round, as caretakers and location support. Not to mention playing on them as avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts. With that in mind, here are some highlights of a handful of our favorite places:

Fortress Mountain Resort

Currently only available for Cat skiing (a form of guided backcountry skiing). This resort is in the middle of a massive redevelopment and revision program and will soon feature a new lodge, lifts, and other amenities. This location features breathtaking views that have made it a magnet for film companies looking to take advantage of majestic mountain cinematography in productions that include Inception and The Bourne Identity. We did some of our most memorable film work here, helping the production team of The Revenant.

Mount Norquay

A favourite of locals since the 1930s, the Mount Norquay resort bills itself as a year-round destination for families and champion skiers alike. In the summer, you can ride the famous North American Chairlift for breathtaking views above the clouds and the Bow Valley below, climb the Via Ferrata (iron road) with certified guides, or leisurely hike miles of tended mountain trails. During the ski season you can join skiers experiencing the slopes for the first time and Olympians-in-training taking advantage of 190 acres and a vertical drop of 1,650 feet.

Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village offers Banff’s only ski-in, ski-out slopeside hotel with access to three mountains of diverse terrain. Decorated in a rustic mountain theme and featuring luxury accommodations in everything from family-cozy to pampered boutique settings. The Sunshine Meadows experience in the summer pairs the same excellent lodging with gondola and lift rides, and trails including a day hike that Lonely Planet rated as Canada’s finest.

Lake Louise

Over 4200 skiable acres with beginner, intermediate, and expert runs await at Lake Louise Ski Resort. You can enjoy a variety of events at Canada’s Natural Playground from ski races to beer festivals. In the summer, the Lake Louise gondola is a great way to safety view area wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, moose, bighorn sheep, and more.
